10 Minute Aroma Deep Incense: Oak Moss
The 10 Minute Aroma Deep Incense Oak Moss by Hibi has the fragrance of moss growing gently on oak trees of a deep forest, taking you to a mysteriously warm and sober world.
The pack includes 8 matchsticks and a non-flammable mat, making it convenient. This portable incense can be easily lit without a lighter and fits comfortably in your hand. It is recommended to use the anti-flammable mat provided, even when using a ceramic plate.
The Oak Moss fragrance is part of Hibi's collection of deep Japanese scents, including Cedar Wood and Ambergris. These scents pay homage to traditional Japanese incense, using ingredients commonly found and cherished in Japanese culture. While not exclusive to Japan, these scents embody the essence of traditional Japanese incense.
Hibi’s tale begins with two age-old trades in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan: the incense of Awaji Island and the matches of Harima. These two traditional industries crossed paths for the first time in 2011. The collaboration started with the concept of an incense that could be ignited like striking a match, leading to 3 years of experimentation.
Due to Japanese incense's delicate nature, a clever solution was necessary. A precise blend of incense and washi pulp was developed: a fragrant product with durability and aroma, resistant to breakage when ignited like a match.
How to use Hibi 10 Minute Aroma Deep Oak Moss
The Hibi incense is fragile, so handle it carefully while lighting it to avoid breakage. The one-minute video further down the page demonstrates how to use Hibi effectively.
- Remove the packaging by tearing the film open from left to right along the perforated edge.
- Light a stick of hibi by pressing the top tip against the rough brown surface on the side of the box where striking is indicated. Scrape downwards at a 45-degree angle to ignite it, holding the stick at its midpoint to prevent breakage.
- After lighting the stick, tilt it slightly downwards rather than keeping it horizontal, and continue holding it until the flame spreads to the incense part and then settles on its own. Extinguishing the flame too quickly may prevent the fire from reaching the incense part, or the matching smell may affect the scent of the incense because the flammable material in the match head may not have completely burned.
- Place the stick on Hibi's special mat and enjoy the fragrance for approximately 10 minutes. The mat and tray are heat-resistant, so you can place it on a desk. For added safety, you can also place it on the slide cover of the box. Do not leave the area unattended until the stick has fully burned out. Burning more than two sticks at once can be dangerous and may cause the mat to overheat, so make sure only to burn one stick at a time.
